The three things I like best about this photo is:
Perceptive: underwater camera looking up(a fish's view)
Contrast&Texture: red, orange and, black .vs. blue, green and, white. Also there's patterns in the lillie-pads and the sky looks painterly.
Intrigue: a unknown fantasy world.
What influences my perceptive is, the object of my photography and the story it's telling. For example if I was taking a picture of a leave i would take it from really close up and long-ways, as if a catipellar was looking at it's world. More than anything I'm looking for a interesting perceptive, so experiment a lot.
The picture that sticks out in my mind is the classic "National Geographic" picture. The afghan girl with green eye's by Steve McCurry. It's hard to get out of my mind when I think about it because I was roughly the same age as the girl when if first saw it. She surprised me because her fears seemed very real for a young girl. The intensity of her eye's seem unnature on a farely young face.
There's not a lot of fine art courses at mount doug and i plan to take them all. The fine art is what i'd like to do.
